Karen has been a great part of AHCS for many years!
“I have been working for AHCS for over 9 years. I was born and raised in Fitchburg, MA. I have a daughter 23 and a son 25 and I enjoy spending time with them. The most interesting job prior was being the Director of Admissions at Saint Patrick’s manor in Framingham. It was fun and rewarding. I find my coworkers at AHCS to be caring, helpful, and accommodating. Due to my length of employment I have learned a lot medically when caring for my clients and I offer advice. Even with ADLs it’s nice to give the family tips on how to make the job easier. My favorite part of this work is the clients because they become like family. I like the relationships we build. The job offers a lot of gratification. People are very appreciative. New hires should be compassionate, genuine and have patience as every family is different. Just be yourself. Compassion is something the families do notice right away. I am a CNA and feel that caring for the elderly is my calling because of a close relationship I had with my grandmother as a child. She is my greatest influence. My first job at the age of 16 was in a nursing home as a housekeeper. I feel I am very compassionate, a person that tries to give 110% and genuinely care. I believe my clients see this every time I am there. The most important thing I learned is the knowledge of being able to handle any given situation. If I am having a hard day I tell myself this will pass and the next morning remind myself that it’s a new day. This is the most rewarding career I have ever had”, shared Karen.
Karen, your hard work is greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping us to achieve excellence every day!
